the best dive

Well we hit the ramp about eight o’clock and the grey army were just coming in from pulling the pots .Well I sat and watched and chuckled to myself, they do this every day of the week and they still park across the ramp blocking for others ,three tries at getting the boat on the trailer, one would think they would be experts by now. No chance of using the jetty so I let Jesse go and he drove the boat around and picked me up after parking the car. We headed out for a dive at a spot I’ve been telling him about for years, he was a little excited. The conditions were not the best but we anchored the boat inside the reef and got gear up .First to check the anchor was set well, and of for a look around .I found a new swim through 15m long ,just amazing feeling swimming under the reef ,this place is a pot graveyard with old pots all over the place .We saw some big morwong ,stingrays a school off blowfish ,heaps of crays, break sea cod ,mulla, blue devil ,but the caves and swim throughs a the highlight of this dive. No pics as vis was not the best I will snap some pics when conditions are better.
Heres a big Merry Christmas to all from the site. and a safe and happy new year .

Cheers Jesse and Paul G

I should have come up to

Wed, 2008-12-24 17:34

I should have come up to your side of the pond.

Went for a dive with the wife and Jamie and it was howling out at Mindarie.  Vis was really bad, less then 10m and the surge was very strong.

Really glad the boat was well prepped for recovery at the end of the dive, made for an uneventful entry to the boat after a tiring dive.

You guys will have to escape

Thu, 2008-12-25 09:06

You guys will have to escape over to Rotto for a weekend (when this bloody wind nicks off!).  There are some pretty awesome caves and reef structures all around the island.  Apparently you can now get air fills too.

Cheers Pete

Yes we are both prety keen to hit Rotto, but we have a long strip of reef here of Two Rocks to explore .

Russ the dhuies will get a short rest ,be good to get a few new spot in close which i know are there ,i think after a couple of years of diving and we won't have to go more than three mile for a feed.

Pete, when the air fills

Thu, 2008-12-25 09:28

Pete, when the air fills start again? I've noticed people complaining about no fills over there, and the last person I saw mention you could get them from the hardware store but that turned out to be camping gas!

Wind - arrrgh. The graph is nearly all red for the next week.

Is there anywhere apart from the river that gets a bit of protection? I'm all set to get a few dives in!
