Best LB snorkel sites in metro area?

Hello all!  I've got a couple of mates that are keen to get into snorkeling but aren't too confident yet.  What are some good sites for beginning to average lvl?  We live NOR, but could travel some.

Also, I've only lived here for a couple of years, so if you tell me a place, please, give me an idea of where it is.

 cheers!

Mettams & Hammersly pools

Mettams & Hammersly pools are NOR and on the coast there. Snorkeling for crabs in the river at nite is always fun and bags a feed.

Off the MAAC is pretty nice, its sheltered and heaps of stuff to look at. Same as off Leonard St and Benion Beach, have got Crays of these two locations in very shallow water. Just have to go when the swell is down and the seabreeze not in.

Lagoon

Yanchep lagoon is excellent for beginners, inside the reef though.

Theres also the granny pool (the pool inside the reef) which is really calm and sheltered.

There's a small carpark on Compass Street, which is a big loop so if you miss it (and you can't, really) just go around again. Go on a low swell, easterly morning...the reef is about 100 metres out and quite visible, partially exposed. Have bagged out at this location but it's a nice dive even if you're not chasing crays.
