Righto, gave the cray thing a go. Tick.
Surprisingly good fun despite getting up at 4.15 am.
Thanks Bodie, Scano, Den and Carl!

Nice haul mate. Diving or
Nice haul mate. Diving or pots?
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Agree
The one under the bar is a red, most of the others appear whites.

Cheers LJ
So you reckon a 50/50 mix is the go? I was going to put a bit more vinegar, and yeah chilli, garlic, pepper and some parsley. Do you take the meat out from them still green or partly cooked?

Take the meat out after the ice slurry
Don't over pickle it either 50/50 would be the go and nuts with the garlic and chilli

Yep has been good fun
I'm not sure what I enjoy more, the sight of a pot full of crays coming on board, or the email banter thereafter throughout the day. Hahaha
I am always amazed at he good calibre of blokes you meet through fishing. Been good fun out on the water in the early mornings having a laugh and catching some crays. Now just gotta get some good weather to get out for a bloody fish!

italian salad dressing is
italian salad dressing is definately good
i usually simmer up about a cup of white vinegar, pickling spice and whatever else you want to add (chilli , garlic etc.)
add it to a jar once cooled down
then put your cut up cray or occy in and top up with the salad dressing and give it a good shake, i only ever used to black and gold cheap stuff worked great

+1 for it also
Last batch I made I gave the praise Italian dressing a run, it's the goods. The missus has gone off my other pickled cray now and won't stop eating the one with italian dressing
I had 50/50 white wine vinegar to water. Then added the dressing, herbs, garlic, chilli to taste. Topped with canola oil as I had read that olive oil clouds the pickle.
Also added a small amount of sweet chilli sauce in one batch to see how that goes, haven't tried that one yet.
Many crayfish have fallen victim in my quest to achieve the perfect pickle haha

Ive never pickled crays.... Sounds like i might need to try it. So you put the cray in there green? and how long do you leave it for before you can eat it?
Cheers
