Big empty space
Todays dive....
Thats the big empty space where photos would be!!!!
Hit the water today just as the wind started blowing in from the south west, ducked out to a little spot not far behind the marmion reefs to quickly grab some crays for tea, We did well on the crays in 5 meters and got my bag on a 45 minute dive but they came at a great cost, 5 minutes into the dive I had my first 3 crays in the bag and came across a most unusual object sitting in the sand... a vacuum cleaner of all things! one of those old style ones that grandma would push around the lounge room one hand thrusting on the handle the other hand gripping her back while tangling and tripping with the extension cord flailing out the back... anywho as i raised the camera to switch on and photograph my first subject of the dive I was horrified to see my housing had not entirely flooded but enough to be sure my camera was stuffed!! bastard!! spent the rest of the dive calculating the costs and cursing the ocean gods on this one!
Well anyway I've already sorted the replacement (a new camera and housing) Just wondering on peoples thoughts if it will have damaged the memory card and battery? The whole lot has been re submerged in distilled water to wash out the salt and put out to dry, the camera was never turned on while being wet. Would this have had any affect on the battery as that will be reusable on the new camera, shouldnt damage the new camera trying should it? dont give a stuff if i lose the old camera now i got a new toy:)

i had the same happen to me
i had the same happen to me on the weekend. My nephew took my waterproof camera (up to 10 metres) in the pool and the battery hatch wasn't clipped down properly. It got flooded inside and wasn't working. I took everything out of it, let it dry for 24hrs and now its working fine:)
