are there other people in the Waikiki area that are getting numerous intermittent dropouts of their internet , all my neighbors' are experiencing the same problem , problem has been ongoing for a month .Talking to Telstra about it is like banging your head against the wall you spend hours on the phone for no satisfaction
I have stepped it up now and lodged a complaint with telstra corporate affairs and with the communications ombudsman , if you are suffering the same problem complain to both for mentioned offices and demand a rebate
One of my neighbours told me it is affecting his business as he dose his quotes and invoicing from home but cant do it as his net drops every 10 minutes

Hey Pete, I'm with IINet and that hasn't been too bad, but there's talk about with these new movies to download with Prepsi or who ever they are taking up to 40% of the Internet every night downloading movies etc.

A telstra technician told
A telstra technician told my neighbour to ring telstra and say you have noise on your phone and they will check your line straight away. Worked for me and no more dropouts.

Had very similar issues in
Had very similar issues in Wanneroo with Shitpond...worst net service I have ever had. Switched to iinet and have not had a single drop out...maybe some occasions with excessively slow net speed but its been heads and shoulders above the other mob

thanks dale
that is interesting , hadn't thought of something like that , problem is IInet and other severs at the end of the day still use bigponds net work so if bigpond is down so is IInet , what your saying makes sense when I lived in karratha the net would aways go down at 6pm as that was the time every one in town was accessing their emails , what ever happened the NBN we were supposed to get ??? I have mates in Baldivis that don't have mbl phone coverage and can they get the internet no they cant

not sure you're right
pretty sure most ISP's run their own servers, yes the copper network to your house is telstra infrastructure but servers, switches and nodes in the exchangers aren't. We have an issue after heavy rain when the telstra pit fills with water, get a lotnof noise on the line. Takes a week or 2 oof dry weather and it fixes itself.

your right in what you are saying , but unfortunately they have to use the Telstra copper lines and if there is a fault on that it causes grief for all isp , it realy realy is bullshit Telsra charge for a sevice and at the moment they cant supply on a reliably in my area . Apparrenty I have a tech coming to my house tomorrow at 130pm tomorrow,on a Saturday 130pm I will believe it when I see it
where is the nbn we have all paid for its been rolled out over in the eastern states but has come to an abrupt halt in WA

Keep pushing
Just keep pushing them - if the problem is not isolated to your line it will almost certainly be an exchange level issue. Get the ombudsman involved, keep pressuring Telstra...they will do their checks eventually.
It's pretty common to have these issues - unfortunately the Telstra network is a piece of poo - if you are in an older area or a long way from the exchange it get's painful.

The final call
I'm feeling for you. We had a telstra cable conection for years and any issues i had took ages to see results and almost always cost me.
Started to get the drop outs happening so ended up making the call final call. I was told that it was my fault more times than i could count. Went up the line of supervisors and through their technical departments where i finally ended up with them telling me if i paid they would send out a tech to check the lines..
Well i'm sure it's their lines and i was at the time paying almost $1000 per year for uninterupted service. Why should i pay more for them to check the line. After the 4 hour conversation i had enough.
Called iinet and was up and running in 4 days. No dropouts, cheaper and the service i have received in the last 6 years has been first class.
Make the final call and do the talking with your wallet. Ditch them.

They have a rock solid contract with Telstra which requires immediate response times where Telstra infrastructure at fault ..................without question best in the business for customer response and competitive as well (and no spam !)

IInet has the best customer
IInet has the best customer service of any phone company that i've experienced. They actually get shit done. I regret leaving them for a cheaper company....

Keep in mind Telstra do
Keep in mind Telstra do wholesale their copper networks to other providers, but the level of service on the wholesale side is completely different to the consumer side.
Down your way I would suspect IINET would have infrastructure in the exchange down there, you would only be using Telstra copper from your street to the exchange at most.
Worth noting, its not that common that there are issues on the copper side of things, unless there are flooded pits or cut cables.
More likely issues in the exchange equipment (Possibly overloaded as Telstra are no longer expanding their infrastructure given the NBN is being implemented.)
