i had a 69zc and a 71zd

Sat, 2015-06-06 22:45

i had a 69zc and a 71zd fairlane, the zc was a vgc roller in a beautiful deep purple with centrelines and the zd had a factory original 351c and 9" with tramp rods p/s and a/c!- but the body was shot :( i picked them both up for 3k combined. i had them mostly stripped down, but ran out of room in the shed and motivation... so i moved them on to a new owner and ended up buying a house. they were awesome machines!
aaaaaaah....they just dont make them like they used to.

It was

Sun, 2015-06-07 14:55

It was an interesting build, I helped a friend make it for a scout camp.
I was surprised at how much attention it got and could have sold it ten times over. ( he wants to keep it )
There was a lot of info on the internet, with whole sites dedicated to building them, I didn't know that there are over 30 different versions throughout the tv series so we opted for an older version.

Just finished a new offroad quad trailer cause , I bought a unplanned quad from a auction , and had nothing to carry it on.

the quad------a near new ( 10 hours) canam xtp outlander 800 max, stolen and recovered , I spent 2k on replacing the missing bits ,

but it came in all up around 1/3 rd of price of a new one, it has power st, winch , beadlock rims, rear air susp, and goes like a cut cat!

the trailer-----built in a single car garage ( never again, I was actually crawling under it to finish it off!) , 75x50 frame, 100x50 drawbar, 100x100 mesh floor,

treg hitch, fuel and water carriers, l.e.d lights all round, re-licenced and matching rims and tyres to suit gq patrol, most bits from martins trailers, brakes, hubs , mudguards etc, all up cost around $1300.

XC's

Sun, 2015-06-07 07:10

Like the XC's, my brother rebuilt an XC ute that took him 7 or 8 years to complete, 460 V8 bored and stroked out to a 506 or there abouts, huge C10 auto, runs on gas. Currently going back to normal fuel system.

Leyland bus

Sun, 2015-06-07 07:22

Have about half way finished refitting out a AEC/Leyland bus.
It went under in the 2010 floods and I had nearly finished it off when a bloke wanted to buy it. He wanted to live in it while he paid it of, no problems, he made regular payments and couldn't take it from where it was parked, all good so I thought. Until I got a phone call that he was doing a runner, got the bus back, he lost what he'd paid and in the meantime he'd almost ruined the interior , moving bits around to suit himself.
So it was strip everything out, including the 240volt wiring and start from scratch. Been at it for about 3 months and can see light at the end of the tunnel , that is if mates won't keep giving you bits and you have to go back over to incorporate them, like a brand new roof top airconditioner [after you had finished putting wood panelling up], a new electric hot water system when you had installed the kitchen sink and were not planning on fitting a shower.

Will stick the photos up at a later date.

Some great stuff people are working on....

Have a zd fairlane sitting away on a farm , needs a full rebuild but have owned it for about 25 years now...reminded me I need to shoot out there and give it some tlc...read as three cans of wd 40 and a litre of fertan rust converter and new tarp over it ... Semi stripped with stack of spare parts collected over many many years.

Quad bike set up for fishing /camping ( can am outlander400  ....for my boys to use of course , gives them freedom when we go way (like quad fisher , finished redoing trailer for it ).and boat ( spent yesterday putting on new battery monitor system ) have chewed up time and money...house too but that's boring .

Parts Scottland

Fri, 2015-06-12 21:09

I am on gumtree and ebay every day or 2. There is a couple of facebook sites aswell for 2nd hand parts but I don't use it. And of course if you get stuck call Superoo. I am very lucky I bought this complete and besides the 9inch needed I only now need to respray, which I will do myself as my 1st trade is a Spraypainter, rechrome rear bumper and rims. I am thinking an XY spoiler on the boot.

Sun, 2015-06-28 10:51

Since i sold my TBucket i built from ground up 90% of the work done myself..

My VK Ex pursuit Group A replica (100% myself apart from interior)

its been a while in the making(5years) sat in the spoiler shop for 3 and then in my shed for1 1/2 years before i got started.

origanly it was motor out and repaint engine bay white just to tidy her up.....well one thing led to another(as they do)

and shortly after it was totaly striped out and some new shiny red going on.

enjoying cruizing with mates, my fishing buddy Andy in his awesome HQ GTS Munro, sweet ride with some real grunt
