Black magic pushers - anyone use them?

Have been gearing up for an Exmouth trip and saw a Black magic "maggot" pusher in Bluewater tackle for $42.00 rigged looks exactly like a Richter Oscar junior but about half the price rigged. When i compared them the hook on the maggot has a very large gauge and doesnt seem as sharp as the Richter hooks. Just wondering has anybody used maggots or any other black magic lure with these heavy gauge hooks and found the hook-up rate not so good.

if ya heading to exy, grab some vent right skirts. thay are a ali machined head and are absolutely dynomite. i ran them up there recently and outfished everey other type of lure 4-1 on the marlin and they were the only skirts to get dollies and tuna on. my cousin was running black magic, polu kai and richter skirts and skirted ballyhoos and only had one hit the whole trip. cheaper than any other skirt on the market too

get some just wondering what size/colour you used we want to target bigger marlin on 24 and 37kg combos. They sound like a kind of "jet-head" so do you troll them faster than big pushers?  cheers for the advice

 We were trolling them round

We were trolling them round 7-8kt for the marlin, has heads that can be trolled as fast as 24kt if ya got the gear to hold it.

there are a few different ones, some Solid heads and some jet ones.

as for colours it was pinks, orange purples all bright colours that done the trick

Skirted Lures

Tue, 2014-05-20 14:15

The Richter Oscar juniors are one of our favourite skirted lures (yes we use) for marlin & sailfish etc but in saying that tuna & dolphifish crawl all over them.

We have them here fully rigged by Mark Richter with quality components. We have a Special Custom Colour which is UV Blue with silver foil and UV Pink with silver foil (plus other colours)

$62.95 (FW Price)

I have a black magic pusher, i rigged it with the Ricther hook set you can get and got a sail with it, good for thier price so far i may have been lucky. i usually run Ricther lures exclusively as they havea  proven record in Karratha and Exmouth. sailies don't really like the resin heads so the soft oscar's work well out here.

The Black Magic and the

The Black Magic and the Richter lures come out of the same factory and often out fish my more expensive lures. I wouldn't buy the pre-rigged lures as the hooks are a very heavy gauge considering the average size of the small blacks and sails you will tangle with. Rig your own using Pakula Dojo's (light gauge) or Gamagatsu (salt water fly) hooks. These are super sharp and penetrate a bill fishes mouth a lot easier.
