Blue groper spots (south west)

Hi all

Ive been wanting to catch a blue groper for many many years and want some advice on where to catch them if possible.

I have 610 quinny and all the right gear...Just missing the spots.. I live in Bunbury and would love a spot or two.

Any possible help wanted..

Cheers Jesse

Hi jesse,
Your very unlikely to get spots these days, but sure the guys might be able to assist with ways to target them.
Cheers,
Adam

a mate of mine has been to augusta 3 times now and caught a big blue every time , the best tip i can give you is to fish with rock crabs or very fresh squid heads and fish close to an island or rocks with some reasonably deep water close to the shore. cheers

Land Based?Never have tried

Land Based?

Never have tried myself. Have seen footage of rock hoppers along south coast (possible all the way east)

Start from Cape Naturliste and head southwards, e.g Bears Rock

From what i understand quite deep water and blue grooper fight like a ^#@":! so be prepared to loose a rig or 20

Mate head further east of Augusta, save up a big bucket of ab guts, crab shells, urchins etc, drive around in boat find a lump ledge, anchor up, drop in a handfull of berly every few minutes and drop down a couple of fresh occy baits on a stong handline and fuken hang on and dont get it caught around your thumb or anything else

basically look for big

basically look for big bouldetrs in areas shore baseds ppl cant get too, then just go right up onto the wall, chuck a balloon with a whole crab on it 2m down and let it sit right in the white water, ud be suprised how many u get right in on the rocks, also try on rocky ground with big sand patches, fish on the rocks or just of them in 10-15m water seen heaps in that lvl and got a 30kg myself down near augusta, i saw about 8 others in that area all over 20Kg
