Hey guys. a while ago i saw a post about the little motion alarms you could put in your boat as a bit of a detterent if anyone jumped in.
i cant for the life of me findthe post.
if anyone has any suggestions on what they do for secuity i would appreciate it. the boat will be in the driveway, full covers, sensor lights and cctv.
cheers!

bunnings
i have an Arlec motion sensor alarm in my boat that I picked up for under $50 at bunnings. runs on 4 x AA's, and is very loud. its installed in area where you have to get into the boat to trip the sensor. pretty handy for when you have to leave the boat at a storage area in a caravan park or the like. it comes with 2 remotes to arm/disarm, and to turn off if it gets triggered. i usually just arm it at night.
it would scare the shit out of anyone not expecting it, and loud enough to wake half the caravan park.
I used to not worry about theives, and would just empty the boat of anything valuable, however my new boat hads the plotter hardwired and flushmounted (unremovable), and I had a bad experience 2 easters ago when I caught a young cunt going through our campsite at 1am in Kalbarri, so now I'm wary.

Dead area
I agree with the arlec, just place it in a dead area, ie between sides, that way someone walking past should not trigger it accidently.
If you put it too high it "spills" the sensor path over the sides and can get triggered when not wanted.
