Getting it on is apparently the hard bit...a warm day to give the rubber some stretch ...some manpower pull the sh-ite out of it and fix with sikaflex..
as chris said, pick a nice sunny day and leave it in the sun for a few hours, start at a point that has the end cap (we put a screw through it to hold it in place) heaps of sikaflex and pull the shit out of it.
do a little test piece so you know how much sika to put in without it oozing out evrey where and making a mess
Make sure you get the right gunwhale rubber as there are many on the market. Boat shops can get it in from say BLA (wholesalers).
I did mine with a mate, sunny day and screw in the first end as fisho-rons says. Took about 3 hrs max. Put plenty of sikaflex on the shoulders where the rubber might get a good bump. Any that oozes out - use a scrapper to get bulk off then turps on rag for rest.
I got a quote to do my 21 footer and it was $1800. Do the sums - 15m at $18 plus 3 tubes of sikaflex!
nice sounds good thanks for the advice fellas, il put a picture up of the nice little project boat i bought this weekend, have the fiberglassing work getting done on the weekend and wanted the rubber strip done before it get painted, thanks again
