I am looking at putting some carpet into the Pig, what carpet do you guy's have.

And what works best, fully installed or non glued ?

Carpet

I have Flotex on Juneka. It is rubber backed, won't rot, shrink or stretch. It is the same stuff they have in the trains. Mine is not glued down, and never moves. It is awesome carpet - hooks won't get snagged in it, and it cleans up so easily with a hose down. Nothing really sticks to it.

It is expensive - I paid about $100 per metre (2 metres wide). The least expensive supplier I found was Melville Carpets, on Canning Highway - they had a good range too.

The only down side to it is that it is not fade resistant. But if you keep your boat under cover, the time it does spend in the sun won't fade it for years.

Good luck.

I put different carpet in my boat for a trip to the Mackeral Islands, the existing carpet was held down by press studs with the male piece screwed into the floor, I got some carpet from BCF and just cut it to suit and then put 4/5 female parts of the stud in the carpet to suit the male parts on the floor.

Allows me to take it out and wash it and it does not move about, only trouble the carpet (BCF sell it as boat carpet)I got gets under foot in summer.

Autex

I use autex, there are 3 grades - Raider/Reef(bottom range), Images(middle range) and Decord/Widetrack(premiun range-more plush). Atm I am about to glue some Decord down, about $50 a meter(2 m wide). I have used the raider stuff before but gets 'flat' after a year or so. I do believe there is a cheaper brand, but you get what you pay for. I do like the idea of press studs, like is done on Southwind boats. I have seen boats 20 years old with the original carpet and still ok, looked like the Autex premiun range in 'em.

Good luck

I used the same as recommended, but I do like the idea of artificial turf like the guy on Ifish uses. The rubber backed carpet is very very heavy, especially when wet - id would reckon mine is at least 40kg.
