Boat Insurance

 Gday all,

 

Any recommendations for boat insurance for a $18'000 Ali 17ft.

 

Have been with RAC but their new changes mean my policy almost doubled in cost to remain the same.

 

Paying the same as last 4 years means a significant drop in agreed value and a big excess.

 

Not impressed, who are others using??

 I suspect most would be with Club Marine.

I have always been with them but times have changed so there might be others out there cheaper, but maybe not better.

 I use Coast Inaurance but mine is insured for $120k.

Sunshine will know who is easiest to work with but you may pay more for that.

 

personally, I had to take the risk of going with the cheapest.

Back with Club Marine

I've just swapped from RAC back to Club Marine when I sold last boat and bought a new one.  Same reasoning, RAC prices went through the roof and had more exclusions.

 Had 2 claims over last 12 years ( 1st after 3mths of owning it , $10k plus motor rebuild and last one 3 years ago binimi replacement when came around a corner and low tree branch ripped it off  - around $4k from memory ) . Cover has everything I need ( read your policy doc to make sure you are good with whats on offer / whats excluded irrespective who you go with ) . I bumped up the agreed value 6 months ago after a chat with them going through the boat set up and new accessories , no dramas . Price has been steady ( no big hikes) and although i have shopped around ,  they have paid out more over last 12 years more than I have paid them so am happy with the service.

Doing my homework with all of the above mentioned.
