Boat paint removal

Hi All, what would be the best method to take a painted Ali boat back to bare Ali and to leave it unpainted and would you have to finish it off some way so it looks ok. Cheers

so  it would be better than some type of blasting the paint off as it is a reasonable size boat

I just did this between xmas

I just did this between xmas & new year (all those windy days, thought I'd get into in while on break from work).

Mine had a crappy diy fitout, I'm doing a new fit-out so full strip including wiring. Found original mustard colour done prior to fit-out, then had white rolled & brushed after fit-out, looked like crap.

Did a lot of googling/reasearch re stripping, read other forums with similar Q's, majority response was to save the stress & pain, get it Soda Blasted!

Well with most tradies/factories etc also on break I did'nt have that option, worried about certain chemicals on ali I bought 4lts of paint stripper from a specialist paint supplier (automotive etc) on the Saturday, spent all day/dusk on it, all 4ltrs, only looked half done.

There closed Sunday so I grab a couple of cans of spray from Supercheap, barley touched it.

Off to Bunnings, 4ltrs of Polystrippa, another full day applying, scrapping, power washing etc & I'm still not fully satisfied with the result.

So with hindsight, In the end when I add up cost of stripper, water, elec, back & forth to shops, burning to skin, sore hands etc etc etc, I would have waited for everyone to go back to work, spent ~$400 to get it Soda Blasted while I did something else.
