Boat Ramp Rules???

Headed out for a dive in the arvo today with nothing but dramas. Firstly the waters around my dive spot were absolutly full of blue bottles. Secondly as soon as I cranked up the Hookah a hose clamp let go so that was the end of that. On the way back stopped of for a quick squid session with good success. Boated 6 huge squid in half an hour.So that got the missus smiling again. Back at the ramp there was a line of boats waiting to get to the ramps. So I lined up and waited my turn. As I waited I noticed the end ramp had only one boat there wich was hooking it up to get it out of the water, so I headed over for a closer inspection. There was heaps of room for the next boat in line to get in but no one was claiming it. I circled for a while waiting for someone to take it but no one even seemed interested in it. So after waiting a bit longer and the other boat almost on its trailer I decided I would take the spot. After pulling up and pulling the boat up so as another boat could come in I noticed a couple of boaties looking my direction and shaking there heads like I had done something wrong. Now I probably jumped the line by about five boats but did I accually do anything wrong? . There were no boats waiting to come in, There are no signs saying retreive or launch jetty only, and no one else took the spot with ample oppertunity.

you have done nothing wrong. if they forgot their glasses then thats their problem. if you waited and waited and no one took it them thats tuff luck. this happens alot down point peron too. only problem is there is no launch and retrive ramps its do as you feel. many a time i have verbal agruements with people who wont pull their boat along so someone else can come in and tie up. good on ya did you give em a thumbs up

No probs mate, had the same drama there last year. Alot of people have the eye set on one ramp and wait for that to free up. So the person behind them waits and the next one waits and so on. If they dont keep the flow going then sooner or later someone is going to go around and take the ramp thats available.

Also tapout if you have the patrol it might be eiser to beach launch or retrieve there and not have to wait in line. Nothing worse than watching it take 20min for someone to put there boat on the trailer

Thanks guys, I didnt really think I had done the wrong thing anyway I just couldnt see why no one was taking that ramp.It was like you said Steve every one seemed to be lining up behind the other ramps for some reason. As for giving them the thumbs up Mike I noticed one of the boats that was shaking his head pulled straight up behind me at the ramp and didnt say a word once on solid ground. There all talk until it comes to the crunch anyway. As for beach launching Steve Ill let you show me how thats done before I end up putting the patrol in the drink and have every one shaking there heads at me lol.

I don't think you done

I don't think you done anything wrong as long as you didn't snake anyone.. if no one in front wants to take it then you can..

It's also really good when people line up their boat along the jetty to retrieve an they pull down their boat allowing others to dock their boat on the end of the jetty too, keeps the flow nice an quick..

Two Rocks is bad for this.. real bad.. 1 ramp an 20 boats lined up in the marina, 25 minute wait at least.. almost makes it not worth it..

They should put in a system where you come in to the marina an line up along the jetty where the cray boats sit.. then when it's your time to retrieve you drive off the the ramp without the stress of circling around making sure no one snakes you an making sure you don't hit someones boat (easy done, i tell ya) and making sure you don't accidently snake someone...

very stressful experience.. but i don't think anyone is willing to do anything about it but me..

Cheers..
