hello. i picked up a tinny a while back and im trying to get it registered. ive tryed every phone number i can find on the net and the phonebook but keep getting the run around.
so this is what i have and have not got.
13ft tinny, no numbers build plates. only have a receipt saying i brought a 13ft boat, rather vague i know.
9hp outboard
no skippers ticket
common sence.
can anyone provide a single phone number where i can call and get results on getting this thing licenced?
Thanks
Jim

First thing you will have to do is take it to a licensed boat dealer/workshop & pay for a hull identification certificate which will allow you to register it. Then you should then be able to organise registration through the Dept. of Transport. Skippers ticket will not be neede to do the paper work but will be needed whilst you are the skipper.
Hope this helps.

Unregistered
Be a lot harder to sell an unregistered boat. You can't legally use it till its registered either.

Do not forget to get a POI
Do not forget to get a POI form (proof of Indentity) done plus another $19 transfer fee to get it into your name.
An otherwise unregistered tender can be stickered up with details of mother boat and used legally as a tender as far as I am aware.
And, as a matter of fact I am looking for a tender.
getting HIN , insurance, licensing etc. etc. is a very tedeous affair without any fun going through the motions.
If it needs a trailer then yet another long winded road of paperwork and $$ to be spend is in front of you.
