boat security

Guys - for those of you whose boats do not fit in the garage, what security measures do you use to make sure it does not go walking??

Hitch Helmet

Wed, 2008-08-20 19:58

In Perth put the hitch helmet on ALL the time + large chain around axle and onto carport pillar. Never leave anything of value in the boat either.

Up here, a bit more relaxed but still use the hitch helmet.

Hitch lock & 2 yappy dogs & a spare car parked in front at all times.

The only time it worries me is when it's hitched to the ute all night ready for an early start.

Someone nicks the ute & they get a free boat. Scarey stuff.

I'm sure I'll catch a biggy oneday.

Funny you say that. Had a Fiat X19 long time ago and the best theft deterrent was to paint it with house paint using a brush. Left it at the airport with the keys in it once, for 14 days and it was still there when I got back!

Security

Thu, 2008-08-21 08:41

Our security in Leeman, especially Xmas & Easter, a lot of suicide hooks and different sizes on fishing line, strung on deck so if they jump in one hook or another will get them and the more they struggle more the suicide will dig in, painfull but good, hasn't been tested yet.

I only wish, has not been too bad of late but we got broken into in our first three months of living in our current house so my paranoid meter is still pretty high. Sad really, growing up on a farm the old man has never locked his house or car in his life. Might need some handyman skills to help rig a big metyal ring in the ground
