really that bad huh?
I was going to try and drag the old man along and coax him into buying a 6 - 7m boat. And no fishing tackle specials worth worrying about??

I guess ith the lack of
I guess ith the lack of surport from the dealers. The ones that are there will be going hard to get a sale ,I would think if you had the money you may get a good buy .Checked out the motors even with the boat show specials no one was better than Men on Boats .Did see some fishing gear in the ranger camping .But i seem to have plenty of gear im don't get to use.

Mind you for $15 I could
Mind you for $15 I could always google the news and have a cold one with it at home. It is a very small show area, Mandurah would have it beat for sure.

wouldnt even waste my time
wouldnt even waste my time going to this one, with the fuel parking and entry fee, i could buy alot with that money and have more enjoyment longer, atleast the Mandurah one you could spend more time there and theres a wide range of gear there for alot of people

well the comments so far,
well the comments so far, surprise me and dont, one of the biggest things dealers have to contend with, is the cost of floorspace, its just robbery, there was talk from one dealer, last year, that they might go back to the showgrounds this year, but I seem to think, that the BIWA may well be contracted to the Convention Centre, who knows where it will be next year. Mandurah Boat Show is not that far away.

Last year's show was pretty
Last year's show was pretty small and its smaller this year? I did think the boat builders list was very very short.

maybe they will can it all
maybe they will can it all together unless they get cheaper areas for the dealers to put up their stuff, i have heard that the hay shed (convention center ) is verry expencive for anything that goes on in their, more wasted taxpayers money imo

I got told from a dealer
I got told from a dealer ,they pay $25,000 for four days, not sure how big the area would be for that ,but you would need to sell a fair bit of gear.

Looks like the dealers have
Looks like the dealers have voted with there feet and left,, good on them, $25,000 might not get you much space either. See you all in Mandurah.

Hmmm that's interesting Colin
We have staged shows at the Convention Centre and we charge nothing near that rate. So maybe it is the organisers who have set the price too high.

I know we weren't charging a fraction of that rate Matt
That is a hell of a lot of money to fork out for four days.

Boat Show
I spent my $15 today and was entertained for some 2.5 hours. That's 6 bucks an hour and I can live with that. May not have been as extensive as other boat shows but got some good hands on training from Taylor Marine as to how to fine tune my sounder.

ah well Alan, sounds like you got good value for money, if there is a poor turn out of people, quite a few of the electronic exhibitors, will give you quite a lot of time to help you understand their products, its known as "good public relations"

Yeah the Hay shed i think
Yeah the Hay shed i think was signed up for 4 years so hopefully this one will be the end, The cost is stupid. $25000 will get a you a smallish stand. Some boys (last year i haven't been there yet this year, tonight) spent over $100 000.00.
Actually the real shi-ty thing is that from a few years back it is dearer to buy space at the show then it is at the Sydney convention center that is right on Darling harbour..
Something needs to give..So have some compassion for the guys who did display product..

Rod, Good comments, but the
Rod,
Good comments, but the biggest proiblem we have,as we all are aware, because of the small population of Perth and WA, we are charged extorinate charges to see things. The Perth Truck Show a fortnight ago was $12.00 entry at the Convention Centre. The Wood Show at Claremont held in the Silver Jubilee Pavilion, cost $14.00 entry and for those prices at the showgrounds, the buildings, should be in better condition, than they are and there was a good turn out of people.

It was very low key for mine, I didn't even know it was on until the cook mentioned it last week. Usually there's plenty of stuff in the papers etc leading up to it.
Cheers

Just got back from the show.
Just got back from the show. It was pretty quiet. For the first time ever I actually went looking to buy rather than drool, and it is amazing that only 1 boat really fitted my (and my families) needs and budget. I very nearly signed up for a 6000 Brumby LeisureCat and may well be back tomorrow for it.
I wonder if I am too picky, or if there are a lot more boats out there that weren't at the show.

Feedback
The general feedback from customers was a very average show, certainly reduced some what from last year but the Evinrude Girl was apealing on the eye LOL
