Boat Transport

Hey guys, after looking for a few months and going to boat show getting close to pull the trigger and buy a boat. I'm looking at a couple on the east coast. Would anybody be able to recommend a transport company and what to expect cost wise?

This is my post on a previous thread (I couldn't work out how to paste a link):

I just shipped a boat from Brisbane to Perth using CRA transport. I was going to start a thread about it as I was so impressed with the service from them. It's a small operation so you deal direct with the owner and driver. He goes out of his way to help, collecting the boat in Brissie for me and storing it at no extra cost. It came across quickly (4 days) and was clean on arrival, unlike a car I shipped across which arrived covered in mud (different company).

There were a couple of issues on the way across, which were my fault. Basically, my trailer was so rusty that a couple of the cross members snapped, and the whole boat was at risky of dropping onto the truck. The driver was awesome - sending me photos and keeping me updated as to what was happening. He had to stop at an engineering workshop in Port Augusta for 5 hours to have some brackets made to prevent the trailer falling apart further. Even though I had cost him 5 hours driving time, and he had to pay the workshop, I wasn't up for any extra cost. I've always though the real test of a business was how they deal with issues as they arise, and this company was faultless.

The icing on the cake was the assistance from the truck driver on delivery. The boat needed to be forked off the truck as the trailer was stuffed, and the driver was a huge help. I had to go back to work, but the driver helped my wife connect the trailer to her car so she could take it for repairs after the boat was unloaded. The service from the driver was amazing, even after I had cost him time and money on the way across.

Thanks for the tip Fuzzy. Sounds like a top bloke! Any ball park cost I might expect for a 6m boat?

 $4500 + GST (pay cash...)

was the cheapest quote I had and the service was faultless. Somebody else on here used them just before me and recommended them. If you do a search for boat transport on here I am sure you will find the recommendation.

that type or level of service

that type or level of service is "unheard" of in WA anywhere in my opinion

I walked into a boat dealer in Perth with 50k cash in hand to purchase got what I wanted asked for a ride on the water even offered to pay for a tank of fuel and yet 5 days later here I am still waiting.

Well now I'm sending my coin over east :)

saving 15k on same make & model including transport.
