Boat transport from Adelaide to Perth (or SW area)

Has anyone had to move their boat from Adelaide to Perth or SW area? Have had a few quotes and they are not cheap, so thought I would ask if anyone has had any experiences with bring their boat across. We are looking at moving a 6.05mt aluminium on a new tandem trailer in Dec/Jan 2011. Any advice with movers would be appreciated!

check the back loads as a lot of trucks cart one way and just take whatever they can back to make some $$$. Plenty of trucks crossing the Nullarbor so it might pay to do some searching.
Other than that it is an easy drive so if you can afford the time off, driving to get it and towing it back will work out a lot cheaper for you. I've done it a few times and with 2 drivers we just go straight through

this topic has been covered a few times. i think the same result has come up every time . big $. if you are driving over it might be cheaper to hire a second car and tow it yourself

Our boat went from Perth to Darwin via Adelaide.  Went through Allied Pickfords who subbies to Openica.  I wouldn't rate Openica as they 'misplaced' our boat in Darwin and didn't know where it was meant to be going.

Take a couple of days off

Take a couple of days off work and drive it over yourself, and if you get time to do some sightseeing stop at Norseman...
If your boat trailer and tow vehicle are up to speed, this will be your cheapest option.

i am in perth(welshpool/kewdale area)

i went to roxby downs in my truck as a hot shot a couple of weeks back and i am looking at going again in a couple of weeks.

i came back empty..8mtr tray 6ton limit

i dont mind going a bit further if the price is right and could put your boat on the back, if you can sort out a loading ramp at each end.

i do have a hiab which can lift 2ton but i would prefer to load with a ramp.

at a guess i would think i could do it at half the price you will find because it would be a backload for me

pm me if interested.

i know it is a truck..(9tonner)  fully loaded, but i burnt just short of $2500 in diesel there and back, so you can see why it cost so much for transport.
