Boating in Busselton
Submitted by Simo_ on Mon, 2008-01-07 13:50
Im thinking about taking the boat to busselton over the Australia day long weekend, having never taken my boat down there I was wondering what the launching situation is.?
Also how far out do you have to go to get into the fish?

you can launch
right next to the jetty on the eastern side of it..........at least you could last time I was there, no finger jetty though but good ramp all the same.........Actually I may be wrong about the finger jetty too but someone on here will confirm
Four mile reef would a good start
To all the virgins..............Thanks for nothing!

top ramp at port geograph or
top ramp at port geograph or head to quindalup, from there can head out to the cape, some good area out there in 40-50 m and beyond if the weather is good and your boat big enough

port geographe marina is
port geographe marina is good and no doubt will be busy. also depending on your rig and the weather, forrest beach- anywhere u like, is good as long as the inevitable westerly doesnt chop up too bad coming back in. definitely the four mile (generally the 48'-52' mark and ur close) although having only a 4mtr tinny i always fish in 25-30 feet between forrest and peppy beach and do far too well for my mates to handle : ) have a great weekend everyone!

hey monfromcapel yeah the 4
hey monfromcapel
yeah the 4 mile is ok if you like skippy and sambo's .. go out to 18m then the bottom will step up to 16m in most area's ... peppy is a great area if you like your snapper, skippy, sambo's etc.. just cruize around till you find a patch of reef and burley up :)
peppy reef - right on the shore is great for big herring and sambo's (some are unstopable in 5m of water)
if your after bigger and better fish go around to quindalup and look at nato reef or around the corner near sugarloaf ... if ya get a good day launch at canal rocks (got to be a very good day) and just putter around out there ... always a good dhu or 2 to be found :)
