I caught one of those off port Gregory a week before Xmas they go hard.  I thought it was some sort of mowrong or sweet lip so I released it

Morwong family

There are quite a few names for this one.

It is commercialy sold in WA as sweetlip snapper and isnt bad eating as suggested. They just have thin fillets and a backbone with sinues that makes it hard to fillet.

Also WATCH out for the gill rakers, very sharp.

In qld they call them Slatey Bream

another is sand snapper or grey morwong

whichever way it is still a morwong
