Deepwater Flathead
Submitted by Belly Fish on Mon, 2013-05-13 21:15
Fellow in the Club I'm in caught this Flathead in around 300 metres off Ocean Reef. It was just shy of 2kg. It's not in any ID books I have, but I did see a Fisheries Research video with the underwater baited cameras and saw what they referred to as a Deepwater Flathead. I'm guessing that's what it is.
Anyone able to confirm?

I think it is some type of flatty but what I am not sure I once speared a huge strange looking flatty of Onslow would have gone 4 to 5 kg but when I got it back to the boat hell it stank still the fillets were ok

there used to be a trawler
there used to be a trawler called (I think) the "Bianca" working all along the west coast, I remember him unloading boxes and boxes of flathead in Freo.
His permit started at the 200 meter line.
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.
