from the monties deefa,

Sat, 2006-11-11 18:26

from the monties deefa, bagged out in 2 days apparently, C&R the rest ( 3 days) and it is a couple of months old, release weight wasn't used on board so you can say a lot more fish died then that from baratrauma.

As I said and people think I am a nutta and a worry head, this isn't that bad shared between say 15 people, but X this by 15 people 4 times a month say 10 times a year and it adds up, then X this by 5 charters operating out at the Monties and you can see tonnage getting ripped out from the system, makes it worse with slow growing fish, what was the about the commercial fleet they are all to blame, geez, but mate I paid 3 grand to come up here, I want my fillets,

what do you do, anyone else got any bright ideas besides CALM

Wally

Ps this is the monties, what 30 + degree heat if not 40 + on the deck, not a good way to take care of your catch either

i love the "fishing trip justifiers"......... basing their success of a fishing venture by comparing fish killed -vs- fuel/money spent/used, we've spoken about this before Wal.... Different strokes for different blokes though eh Wal. I guess for some people that is a major factor, but i think we'll be seeing a whole lot less of it over the ensuing years.

By keeping those fish on the deck, they're actually doing their bit for the environment. By par-cookin the fish on deck, they're saving on the gas/electricity required to cook 'em from raw, hence reducing the amount of nasty by-products required to produce to utility in the first place..... :-D

disgusting, have to agree Wally, this is unexceptable and if they where a charter?, that goes on our amateur catch, am I correct in stating that ?

Have done a charter to the

Sun, 2008-11-23 09:37

Have done a charter to the Monties. Would of been disgusted if the fish we had caught had been treated in a similar manner. If your going to kill the fish, treat it with respect.

Wally, I saw a wetliner come in from the Monties to unload at Onslow. Was disgusted with what I saw. Undersize fish. Fish takenout of slurries and thrown across the deck and then put into boxes. Took approx 5 hours to unload, fish sitting in boxes with no ice on. Truck that turned up to transport did not fire up freezer unit till it was fully loaded.  This one wet liner filled a complete semi trailler. Made the catch from this charter boat look minor and this boat had a two day turn around begfore going out and doing it all again. It is not just the charter boats doing damage to the Monties.
