Berkley Whiplash....

We highly recommend the Berkley Whiplash. Its super thin, great value and reliable.

What breaking strain are you thinking of using??

that site is a good read. That guy does independent line testing and there are a few surprises. Lots of brands bullshit about their diameter and/or breaking strain.

Used super braid once but it

Used super braid once but it was crap. Very flat not round (despite the package) and gave me heaps of wind knots. Perhaps not something you'd get bottom bouncing though. Broke easily too.

I dont mind tufline for one of the 'cheaper' braids, but really, just go for daiwa tournament accuepth. You can get it at Allboats. Also, saltiga boat braid is super nice and even cheaper. Both of these are ultra smooth, colour metered (so you know how much line you have out) and its not a lot more for a significantly nicer line.

Whiplash is ok, but the stated diameter on the package is an outright lie, so its not as thin as the numbers say. Fair few other braids that are just as thin. Is a reasonable braid though.

Thats a pretty cool site Till. Interesting reading.

I highly recommend Fins braid too. I use 50lb fins for bottom bashing and spinning with big lures off the rocks up north. Its is a tough as they come, Ive seen it wrapped around oyster covered rocks whilst still connected to a big macky and it didn't even look like braking. Cheap too - usually under $70 for 300yrds. 30lb should be heaps for a 700 calcutta

Im a fan of Nitlon PE and Daiwa Accudepth. I reckon 30lb would be perfect for that reel. 50lb seems like overkill!
