brake check

 Hi all,

now i know that in an accident, the car at the back is always 'at fault' for travelling too closely, but has anyone ever heard of someone being charged with careless, dangerous or even wreckless driving for brake checking someone?

If i didnt have the missus in the car with me on the way to Albany on thursday night, i wouldnt need to ask this question as i would have brake checked the royal d!€|<head that was tailgating me at 110-115.

We had already gone over the top of one poor skip that was still in misery (glad we decided to take my car and the not the missus'...i have ground clearance haha) and about 10 minutes after that had another 2 very close calls with the skippys.

No word of a lie, this idiot in a yellow 2 door jeep was tailgating me so closely that at times i couldnt see his headlights. The rest of the time he would have been less than 6-8m behind me. I was more than happy to sit a good safe distance behind the 4by infront, who had better lighting than i did.

After about half an hour this idiot finally went around me and then did the exact same thing to the poor bloke infront. He finally got off the road at mt barker thankfully. These idiot have no idea how dangerous it is.

What??? And you didn't give them the bird?

And would it have hurt you to maybe slow down and let them over take you.  I bet he would have been pissed off after half an hour.

It was dark so giving him

It was dark so giving him the bird probably wouldnt have achieved anything, and he had plenty of opportunities to overtake. Why would i slow down amd let him overtake me when im already doing just over the speed limit-at night with kangaroos-on a double demerit weekend? Not worth my time at all.

I would be able to understand him getting pissed off if i was towing a caravan and sitting on 100, but i am many, mannnny years away from being a grey nomad.

And yes you can be charged

And yes you can be charged for reckless/dangerous driving if you brake check someone. I remember a while back some road rage on a freeway onramp saw a woman rolling her car when she swerved suddenly to avoid the road rager that braked hard in front of her.

If you don't like having the person behind, just wave them around.

Idiot drivers will eventually take care of themselves with the Darwin theory.

I thort that may have been the case, but then again if a roo did jump out infront of me he would have been at fault. I wonder if the case your talking about would have played out differently, if the person in the rolled car had actually rear ended the road rager, and if there werent a bunch of witnesses to say he was a road rager, which may have lead to the police charging him with whatever?

Tailgating

Another option would be to buy one these 12v LED scrolling message signs and stick it to your back window and type in any message you would like to convey .. would come in handy at times

Hmmmm good idea, but depending on how big the screen is, it may just cause them to edge closer to be able to read it
