braving the elements for some reward

me and leemo were getting annoyed at the lack of fishing oppurtunities due to the weather so we decidied to go and just give it a crack.

started at hillaries and as we arrived it absolutley bucketed down so the day started in the car for a good 5-10 minutes

when it finally stopped we caught some zebras? and some buffies which was good fun on light gear

the rain came down again so we high tailed it back to liams but we werent done yet so the plan was made to try for an early mulla or some crabs. well we didn't get of to a good start with no serive station selling river prawns on stirling hwy from the city to mosman. we started of dropping some fish heads in the pots and liam casting a tailor fillet out. as i was pulling the first pot a boat anchored up about 100 m off the jetty was onto what looked like a sizeable fish on some heavy gear. he battled it for 5-10 mins eventually busting off on one of the moorings. he up anchored and took off hahaha. to wrap it up liam caught a 31 cm tailor on an 7/0 hook and a tailor fillet that was longer than the fish that came up.

we caught about 20-30 crabs but maybe only 4 males a whole lot berrying we realeased a few just sized ones to spawn and kept 2 good sized one for a feed. one was a little bit over 160 accross the shell

Well, at least you gave it a crack.

Most of us just sit on our arses, moaning about the weather.  Well done.

Well you did better than us mate.  Me and brg headed out for a shot around Canning Bridge, then Deep Water Point and then the South Perth Yacht club between 7.30-11.00pm for one breamski caught at about 10.30pm.

It cleared up pretty nice in the evening SOR, was super calm after 8pm.

Better being out there than sitting at home though & at least you got something. I gave it a crack off North Mole last night but only turned up a couple of Tailor (40cm each) & had one hookup to something big but it busted me off on the rocks. Been some good Bream further up the river & there's more shelter during this crap weather.
