Bread and butter fish?

Hi guys, just looking for up to date reports on b&b fish in the metro area and north. Preferably inshore but wandering what baitfish people are catching?

It seems a bit quiet for herring (migration) and even gardies now. Are there still plenty of yellowtail around? Any slimeys? Mullet?

Cheers

By the replies (and also lack of) it sounds like the fish are pretty patchy. Good to know there are a few mullet and whiting around - I've also seen a few pilch schools but they seem to be few and far between.

Good to know it's not just me though. Hopefully Cervantes on Monday arvo has the goods :-)

Burley Up

Sat, 2010-09-18 21:54

I've been a bit frustrated at the inconsistency lately when looking for larger species. I still don't have a problem catching Herring in the usual spots. The trick is to burley up and keep the baits off the bottom.
