Gday all
I have recently moved down near australind and am looking for any info on chasing bream in the collie river.
Have had mixed opinions from a few people down this way but anything would be great.
Cheers

Hi mate, I used to live in australind up until about 5 months ago.
The bream fishing in the river has been pretty hit and miss for me this year, one day you might get a few the next couple of times nothing.
Best times we had was just b4 dark on the rising tide using the river prawns for bait.
Had no luck on the plastics or hard bodys but honestly never really gave them a good go.
If you park down the elbow in australind and walk along the river bank back towards clifton park you will find heaps of structure of old logs and trees in the river.
All the best mate hope you get a few.
Still trying to catch fish!

Used to fish it a lot when we had our place at Myalup and have fished the odd comp down there. Most of mine were caught on mid diving, darker lures like the laser pro in king brown. Amazed how many kilo+ bream we've pulled out of there.
Mate of mine lives down that way and they've had some mad mulloway sessions on gulp sandworms on occasions as well.
Well worth a go.

Collie River
Spent many years of my youth and early twenties fishing the Collie, best bait is fresh live shrimp or gilgies, can catch the shrimp in small traps at the flud gates,
This time of the year fish upstream from the fork from the Brunswick on the left side of the river, several old posts are in the water the used to be parts of old jetties these are excellent spots, snags on the left in the shallows also fish well, 500m further up is a snag on the right in deep water that has always produced fish.
Water traffic on the river reduces fish catch on the weekends, found that fish bite better during the week when traffic is less.
Down stream from the top boat ramp fish the ground around the rock outcrop on the righthand side of the river as u head downstream, cross the other side of the river and fish the snags under the farm house, water is deep up to the bank and shaded very productive.
During winter fish around the bridge and the snags along the river bank on the north side of the river, below the bowling club fishes well from the bank in the evenings as well as the snags downstream from the scout camp.
Goodluck, hope this helps
