Mate they'd be washed further
Mate they'd be washed further downstream with all the rain that's passed through, don't think it's worth it up thatway till it warms up again.

That's what I've always
That's what I've always thought and heard from plenty of others. I've fished up further up during cold months for fuck all. There could still be fish around further upstream but just shut down but I understand they move/get flushed/or migrate into the lower parts of the system during winter rains.

Sorry Justin, I was kind of
Sorry Justin, I was kind of playing dumb. I've heard the reasoning some people give (exactly what you mentioned) & I agree that some of the bream do head further downstream.

Being an estuarine fish,
Being an estuarine fish, bream do tend to prefer saline water as oposed to fresh, and as such to tend to move downstream when there is lots of freshwater input into the river. That being said, i've caught them in water with salinites ranging from 0.2 - 100+ ppt.
There still are bream in the upper reaches of the swan at the moment. Last week I caught them as far up as Midland Brick, where the salinity is currently around 6ppt.
You may just have to try differnt baits. From my personal experience, i've found that worms + soft plastics tend to work better than fish baits, prawns or hardbody lures trhoughout the upper reaches in winter.

Reread my comment above
Reread my comment above Daniel. To make it clear, I know the theory & I know better. If everyone else wants to believe it & not fish the upper sections during winter then that suits me just fine.
PS, I really doubt your carrying the necessary equipment with you when your fishing so why try to quote what the salinity levels are?

Well buddy, you can keep
Well buddy, you can keep doubting, but I did measure the salinity (and also the turbidty, temperature and DO if you must know) so I can quote it.
Even if I didn't measure it, I could still know the salinity since SRT upload salinty plots for the swan and canning rivers weekly on their website.
Maybe you shouldn't make assumptions, particularly if you don't know what your talking about.
Also, perhaps you should re-read my comment, because I said I have caught bream in fresh water. I also said that I caught bream in the upper swan last week. I never said there were no bream in the upper reaches during winter.

You can get as agro as you
You can get as agro as you like mate, I've only got one question for you.....
Were you born a complete dickhead or did you have to practice to get as good as you are?

I'm a dickhead because you can't read and I prove you wrong? Ok cool, nice logic.

Your a dickhead because you
Your a dickhead because you didn't understand what I said. Your a dickhead because you have proved absolutely nothing except your own stupidity. Your a dickhead because your buying into something that has absolutely nothing to do with you. I'll forgive you for being a complete moron simply because your IQ matches your age. Now bugger off.

Buying into something that
Buying into something that has absolutley nothing to do with me? This is a public forum. A bloke asked about where the fish are in the Swan and I gave him an accurate reply. You seemingly took offence at being proven wrong and decided to throw some insults. I think that perhaps you need to stop having a winge and harden up a little. Think before you post.
I do however find it amusing that you think you know my IQ, but once again you are wrong. I also find it hillarious that you are telling me to bugger off considering you've only been a member of these forums for a little over 6 months.
Btw, for what it's worth, my original post wasn't even really directed at you, it was directed at Justin M and the original poster, until you decided to jump on it an call me a liar for not being able to test the salinity.

How long I've been a member
How long I've been a member means nothing. Do you think because you've been a keyboard fisherman longer than me that you know more than me or your say somehow carries more weight than mine? Your word is not proof, it's just what you have to say, it doesn't actually prove anything.
PS: I only ever got stuck into you because it was the lunch break at the cricket & I was bored. You filled time until play started again just nicely. Thanks for.......

Try Garret Road bridge, fished there last week with great results. Sections of peeled prawns does the trick.

This is solid advice. For me
This is solid advice. For me bream do not need big baits. 1/3 to 1/2 a peeled prawn is bang on the money. Jellybean theory.

Swan Bream
Have had some good sessions over the years using cockles dug from the river on 'K" Hooks with no lead around Belmont Racecourse and a spot at Ascot that I know how to get to by sight but can't remember the street name - sorry about that.
The biggest we got at Belmont was 54cm and not just one either.

Salt Wedge
It's true the Bream do move upstream during the warmer months to breed when the salt wedge heads upstream so the warmer months are better for fishing upstream but in saying that, I've caught some thumpers during winter up around the winery areas.

Yep 'No Bream upriver' is correct ...none at all... everyone go fish Mossies and Claremont ..please ! There are no fish that far up river.................BUT
When I got one I was very surprized ;)
2.14kg 50+cm Bream
But I am sure it was a one off .. lost maybe .. visiting a friend perhaps .. not a bream at all really .. a misplaced Black Snapper most likely -__-

Now to destroy all evidence of capture, If I can find the pic I will post it. It was released so is probably down river now anyhow.
