Buccaneer Archipelago trip

Hey guys, I have done a lot of search on here in preparation for my trip next month.

Any latest advice / stories you can share?

Where can I safely leave my car/ trailer in Derby?

Whats the fishing like in July.

Thanks for any advice.... will put up a story upon return.

Its a amazing and dangerous place. Done it a few times. Have posted a few of the trips on here if you search.

We leave pur cars and trailers at caravan park costs minimal and if you ask nicely sometimesnthe caretaker can run you too the ramp. Or taxi  ut they take like 3 hrs to come haha

How far are planning on going?

I think the fishing is a bit slower mid year but much nicer temp!

We are not going much past

We are not going much past Cone Bay.  First time, so testing the waters.

A friend says maybe the fishing club can store our car for a carton of beer.

There appears to be 2 caravan parks.... is the closet one to the jetty the best?

Thanks mate

Kimberley Entrance

I left my trailer and car at Kimberley Entrance, from memory it was Ian and Julie who run the park and they were fantastic, organised drop off and collection at the ramp.

just returned

Fri, 2018-06-22 14:59

I've just returned from 23 days aboard my 7.6 m ally, I launched Broome, Crew chnanged in Derby after Visiting Horizontal Falls and then Pushed as far east as Prince Regent River. Couldn't reccomend more going past cone bay (like straight past and out to Dog Leg Creek for more fuel).

Need to post up a report, but if you want to have a chat about it give me a call/text on 0448 503 288, I wanted to go with two boats but couldn't find a second and feel like preparation and planning can mitigate a lot of risks, not to say things didn't go wrong (180L of Jet A1 instead of Petrol unkowingly supplied into our bladder which didn't go intot the tanks until we were up Prince Regent River being one of the better efforts). Not to mention tides (for me king tides at rotto have cause issues so that was all new!) cplf of teaser pics below!

Most importantly, plan your fuel extemely conservatively, i nominally run loaded at 2l/nM, planned around 2.5L/nM and retrospictevely would plan around 3, economy range was all the way from 0.5 L/nM - 5L/nM depending on tides/speed and load.

Not deliberate, had to thicken up the pancake mix to keep the crew happy with breakfast presentation.

Koolan Island campfire for Mangrove Jacks & Good Oyster Spot.

Starting to get a bit rough...

Thanks for the info. Our boat and time is limited, so this is just a quick trip to test the waters. How was the fishing?  Soft plastics and jigging is my plan.

Surprisingly well

Sun, 2018-06-24 10:50

Surprisingly well when the motors were warm, made it 30nM from prince regent river mouth to Hanover Bay, not so cooperative the next morning.. fortunately we had 60L of unleaded left, 12 hours later we were back up and running, unfortunately we were sill 40nM from our fuel supply at Kuri Bay. Blokes there were legends (they may have felt a bit responsible for he mixup) and ran out to us at 30knots with a new drum.

I did read that if you mix it with Diesel, it can get you out of the shit though not sure of the ratio's, nor that interested in giving it a go
