OOOH dear
Once the hull has been breached and sand has entered the hull it becomes a very hard thing to salvage. Your heart goes out to people with a boat in this predicament.

Couldn't get a berth in
Couldn't get a berth in harbour so anchored off koombana bay with an admiralty anchor in sand then on the last storm which was a 40 knot westerly it ended up over there. If they don't get it off within a few days it'll be in trouble as strong northerlys forecast in a few days

There was already a fair bit
There was already a fair bit of damage done to the back end of it. A few waves were breaking over the top of it while we were there.

I think that's the story
I think that's the story getting used for a bit of sympathy but problem is he only had chain out no rope which was still connected to the anchor when they found it on the beach. Rookie mistake anchoring there with a blow. Feel sorry for him, but not surprised.
