Hey mate, was down a couple of weeks back. Got only 3 between crabbing runs. Was about 500m south of the jetty. Randomly landed a cuttlefish though in around 4m of water. Some of the old fellas said its been on and off down there. good luck.
If crabbing though we found all the decent crabs to be in close to shore, bugger all was out in the clear water.
Hi teamjelly. The Busselton jetty fools a lot of people. It actually runs pretty well north/south. Therefore, if you were squidding 500 metres south of the jetty, you would have had a fair bit of congestion with cars on Queen Street. I guess you were in fact 500 metres west of the jetty.
Hi, went down for a fish the other day and got an absolute monster! Was fishing for skippy and had a big bait under a float out for a sambo, saw the rod tip heavily pulsing, wound in and had the biggest squid I'd ever seen on it, it got off then I tied a shimano Sephia egixile in pink onto a handline and jerked it around near it and it got smashed, walked the squid to a ladder and climbed down and got it, measured 40cm hood length and 90cm total length. Was so cool!

Give a man to fish and he'll eat for a day, Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in his boat and drink all day...
