Busso In April

Hi Guys

I am heading down to bussleton in the next school holidays around to 20th of april and am planning on quite a bit of fishing. Where we are staying has its own private jetty and will be mainly fishing off that.

I like fishing but am no fishing expert and was just hoping for some advice,

i have heard that the salmon will be around at this time of year and was wondering how to catch those, baits, lures, time of day etc?

also when i was there a year or so ago noticed quite a few rays and a coule of what i think were gummies around, wondering how to catch these aswell?

and any other info on what will be around and how to catch it would be great?

Cheers

Tom

A little more info

on where you are staying could be helpful.

There will certainly be plenty of smaller stuff (Herring, Garfish, Whiting, Tailor) available from shore if you berley and fish dawn/dusk. Catching Salmon will depend on where you are, they can be very hit and miss around Busso. Better to travel to Dunsborough or the west coast. Definatly not rocket science catching Rays down here, large bait on a large hook in the water will get you a Ray most days

Also from what we're hearing the Busso Jetty should be open then so there's a better option for a wider variety of fish and Squid.

as Matt said the jetty will be good for around town .. as for salmon - just drive around until you find em :) they really dont care what time of day to feed but some good lures are gold twisties in 40g if you need those long casts .. if they are close or you have a kayak then x-raps and smilin jacks are great .. soft plastics are also great in the lighter colours ..

your getting your info from but there arn't any jetties anywhere near Abbey Beach Resort There are a few short (30m) rock groynes but no jetties. Straight out the front of ABR you can catch all the small stuff and a few rays.

I think he meant the main

I think he meant the main jetty, same as you Matt.

Jetty could be interesting, would be good to go for a squid from it when it's opened. It's been a while!

Not too hard to get a feed off the beach near Abbey if you go at the right time.

Plenty of good spots to check for salmon, but like everyone has said you'll have to go for a drive.

Beaches get a bit busy round school holidays though...seen Eagle Bay packed out a few times around salmon season!
