Buy spotties off a truck???

 Hi all,

Just after some help here.
I'm looking at some Rallye 4000 spots (pencil & spread)
They apparently have come off a truck and have 24V bulbs.
The inside of the lens look slightly opaque.
The seller says that it's haze and will clean off!

Now I'm just wondering if this is the case or if these are F'ed
maybe scorched from 24v bulbs....dunno!

I'd need to get 12V bulbs for them anyway or convert them to HID
but my main concern is the glass!

Price is good @ $150 for the pair (no wiring loom but that's no deal breaker!).

Any advice appreciated.

 Dont worry mate

if ur gona change them up to HID then your only buying the shell of the spotties

so the cheaper the better really cos u replace globes and wires anyway.

wont even notice the haziness once the hids are hooked up

Never seen that in Rallye 4s before

Sun, 2014-09-21 20:25

I have 6 off them on 3 vehicles all pencil beams spread are shit IMO. All are 100w HID.

Price is ok but hazey reflectors.. not what I would buy

Why don't you add $100 to that and go buy a 240w light bar you won't be sorry.

Have just added one to my truck sitting just under the 100w HIDs.

Amazing light output. Coming down from Karratha last week and with recent rain around Cararvon 100ks or so either side encounted a bull or two many cows roos and goats all feeding on the side of the road. Thats when you want all the light you can get.

Should buff out

If they're polycarbonate or acrylic lenses they should easily buff out, just google headlight restoration.

Saltydog,I have a set of

Saltydog,

I have a set of Rally 2000s that went foggy up on the inside of the lens, sounds like those you are looking at have the same problem.

I managed to clean them up by using pieces of rag tied to a short length of dowel and metho. Took a bit of time but they came up spotless, that was 5 years ago and they are still clear.

 cell, thanks for the offer

cell, thanks for the offer of help!

the seller says the haze is on the inside, if they can be cleaned with the metho trick then I might still consider them.

out wide, I hear ya mate and have been considering a bar but funds are tight and that'll have to wait

I just thought that for the price and if I can get rid of the haze then that'll be better then the small hella's I have on at the moment

even if I just get new 12V bulbs.

cheers for the replies.

I'm running a similar set up

Mon, 2014-09-22 07:46

I'm running a similar set up on my hilux. Pair of 4000 spots upgraded to 100w Hid. Also upgraded the standard headlights to hid. Very happy with the outcome although I am still toying with putting on a lightbar as well, just to get a bit more spread.
