Well I would suggest not
I would suggest not stretching your budget for the intitial outlay. The extras will mount up quickly.

Boat
Few things to check if Ali are cracks around the transom, small holes in the hull.
I bought my first boat for 8k still have it. The boat was a big rough around the edges and needed some work but I was prepared to do this myself. Depends on your situation you could do the same but if the motor is a dud it will just be $$$$$$$ and I have probably spent about $4k on fixing it up since then and I recon I could sell it for about 12k so well worth it in my case

Make sure the trailer will
Make sure the trailer will not fall apart from going over a bump in the road

What type of boat? For
What type of boat? For anything other than a small tinny you will just be buying problems at that price. Save some more and aim around 10k for something fibre glass. When I get the new boat I'll be selling my 93 cruise craft 470 spirit for around that amount and looking what's in the market at that price there's good choice (cuddies/runabouts/etc)
