I got Maxx Traxx from the 4WD
I got Maxx Traxx from the 4WD and Adventure show for $260. There are plenty of alternatives though for the sake of $250 I wanted to get the best.
Most will be selling for $280 at the start and then slowing come down though if they are not down at $250 yet, make them an offer.
Most of them don't want to lug the gear back to the showroom so yes, the best deals are on the last day, in the last hours.

Don’t forget to factor in
Don’t forget to factor in your $20 each to get in + fuel to get there and back .. is it just me or is it a bit of a joke to charge people for the privilege of looking at your products ..seems the norm these days

I have to agree
Being charged to see some ones products for sale seems a bit rich to me.
Yes I understand that the sellers put in a bit of effort in taking their product to the area and putting out so you get a good look at what they have for sale, and you can compare similar products at the one venue which is convenient. There is time and effort involved by the companies and this equals an outlay of money by the exhibitors.
I ask myself just who is making the money when (I guess) the exhibitors pay the venue for the privilege of having an area to display their products, then we pay the venue owners for the privilege of going into the venue to look/buy the products.
As has been said above, when you factor in the costs of entry fees fuel etc, are you in fact getting the best deal for your bucks.

Air Compressor
Hi Shane-O, I see you are after a compressor, and I gotta tell you how impressed I was with a mates that I used on the weekend. I borrowed it to pump up a tyre on my Jeep that has a slow leak and it went from 140 kPa to 280 kPa before I could get back to the dash to check the pressure. As quick as at a servo!
It was the Dr Air Pro-Flow, which I had looked at buying previously as they got very good reviews and won a 4wd magazine comparison, and when the time comes I'll definitely get one of them. A quick google search shows you can pick them up for $229, which I would say is pretty reasonable for a known quality product.
I'm not affiliated in any way, just was genuinely impressed.
Cheers,
BD.

ARB compressor guide
Hi Shane-O,
Not saying I recommend ARB as best compressor but as a guide, my Dad is looking for one. Something like $395 in shop and $355 at camping show I believe. There were much bigger discounts at previous camping/4WD shows.
Cheers
Dean

If you are after some 4wd
If you are after some 4wd gear try googling 4wdSupa Centre. I haven't bought anything from there yet but the prices are ridiculously cheap! Not sure if this reflects in the quality but it might be worth a look if it can save a few pennies! apparently based over East so there's postage and handling costs

I bought a compressor and a
I bought a compressor and a side awning from the 4wd supra centre.
the compressor works a treat, but you have to turn it off at the compressor to check the gauge at the tyre. Not like the ARB trigger thingy. , but much cheaper than ARB. time will tell on reliability though.
The "universal" roof rack mount on the awning didn't fit the rhino rack I have. The rhino rack "universal" mounting bracket didn't fit the awning but was easier to modify to fit. Even with the extra 40 bucks for the rhino rack bracket it was still cheaper than ARB. Looks pretty solid construction, but once again, time will tell..

I have seen plenty of cheap
I have seen plenty of cheap ones break in half. I personally purchased the more expensive option to give me a better chance of getting my car back if I got stuck.
Some pricks charge a lot to attach a snatch strap when you are stuck

You are kidding...right
I haven't pulled a lot of people out of trouble, however not once has the thought of asking anyone for some dosh entered my mind.
Helping others in trouble to me is just something you do. It's un-Australian not to IMO.
The worst case I have ever come across of people not helping others was at the Point Perron ramp some years back. Two old guys were having trouble recovering their 12' dinghy as their 2 wheel drive car couldn't get grip on the ramp.
There was about 4-5 boat owners waiting to recover their boats and instead of giving a helping hand to these two senior citizens those waiting just stood around and made nasty remarks about these two old blokes taking up their time.
I pulled the car and the boat up the ramp and then went back and gave these fine examples of younger pride of Australian manhood a solid verbal tongue lashing ending with the words, don't get old guys because this could well be you one day.

Lugging around
All the goodies you buy is the drawback to buying toys at these shows, can get bargains but they become heavy and awkward to carry all day then the kilometre back to your car.I walked in one year and bought a large camp oven that was on special, lugged it for hours, genius .

At the 4WD and Adventure
At the 4WD and Adventure show, I just walked around and found the best price for what I was after and then agreed to pick up in store. No way was I carrying a 2.5m awning as well as tracks.

Whenever I have bought
Whenever I have bought something large from these shows I have just left it there at the tent until I am ready to leave then call past to pick it up, never a problem.
Sometimes they even grab a trolley and take it to my car for me

Price match
check local suppliers as well as they often have specials.
Two years ago I went to the camping show looking for a Waeco fridge. I walked around all the stalls and didn't buy anything. When I came home I looked at Anaconda online and ended up buying a 65L fridge (delivered) cheaper than at the show.
