thinking
you could be talking about point quobba ( not quobba homestead )? there is a camping area patrolled by a ranger just south of the point, but it does get pretty full of seagulls around this time of the year, and can be full.

Camping
You might be able to sneak a tent or two in, though as Scotto says its pretty full at the moment [was up there last Thursday]
The "ranger"is one of the seagulls living up there and is situated down towards the southern end of the bay. Not sure on costs but think its $5 per head a night. There are long drop toilets and a rubbish skip bin for your convenience. You need to cart your water in with you.
Fishing has been quiet since the big swell came through a couple of weeks back, but heard a whisper from a pro that mackies [big] are starting to be caught in good numbers off Cape Cuvier and Fitzroy reef.

You won't be away from the crowds at Pt Quobba, well, depends what time of year you go.
