Info Wanted on Camera

Looking at getting a camera to live on the sea rescue boat, needs to be--
1 Able to be charged up from a 12volt outlet on the boat.
2 Be waterproof, probably to a depth of a metre or so.
3 Compact and robust
4 Be easy to use and idiot proof,---we are not a really techno savvy bunch.
5 Not too expensive
Looking forward to your comments

Charger
Do they have a 12volt charger? Sometimes its a few weeks before the boat gets used on a call out and other times only hours so will need to be ready to go and charge up on way out.

you can get a 12 volt
you can get a 12 volt converter quite cheap that converts to 240 to charge the camera. we have one and can run and charge a laptop easily

240 volt
Not really keen on having 240 volts in a sometimes very wet environment.

all the converter does is
all the converter does is change the 12 volt system to be able to charge a device that usually charges on 240. the device is about the size of a coke can. so can be tucked away in small places

12V to 240
Hi, you can find the converter at auto one , super cheap auto, autopro. Etc. Its basically a small box, smaller than a brick. that has the 12V jack to plug in the car/boat and the other end has the normal power point to plug in your camera charger. I've use this in the car to use the laptop on long drives. Most converter should have an RCD protection built in the box (ask them) should be safe around water.
