canning success

Hi everyone, today me and a friend went fishing from the old shelly bridge down to kent street wier, used the trick of always moving and when you hit a bigger sized school, you stay there. and that's what happened for us. it was very lively with people this morning, mostly fishing. so we just kept on fishing snags for about 2-3 hours, then I found this spot that looked good, so me and my mate anchored up and started fishing, we soon realised there was a sand bar that we could stand on, so that's what we did. he had brought 2 rods down so it meant he had one in the rod holder with mullet on it (so it stayed on fro a while) and casted it out into the middle of the river (usually what not to do). anyway we were casting all through the snaggy area behind us, when his rod just doubled over. it was taking drag like a steam train, even though the drag was done up to what a bream normally couldn't take. he finally got it in, and I netted it for him. his previous PB was 29cm, but now its all the way out at 35.5cm. this may sound like not big for a pb, but for us it is big, our searching I starting to pay off through the canning. we now have an array of different spots that always hold fish. and the best thing is, we have picture proof!

overall we caught lots and lots of fish, ranging from about 23cm to 35.5cm. very good day.
Best of all we made a GoPro video, unfortunately not including the biggest bream (even though the pics were taken with GoPro) but a few were videoed with the GoPro so the video will hopefully be done by tomorrow night!

You'll learn more about fishing doing that than some kid being spoon fed billfish off a megabucks chartered gameboat. Well done.

just uploaded the video. My first edit so please be nice. I didn't get an array of fishing spots, because I left the camera for far too long in one spot. I have the pics of the big bream on it. This meant I got a lot of grunter, and not enough bream to only put bream on the video, but would definitely have had enough bream to make a dedicated bream video if the GoPro had recorded the whole day. I think the video was uploaded in 1080P. It was absolutely perfect playing it on the file on my computer but when I played it on youtube, it was a bit pixelated but not really. Can I please have a bit of feedback because I want to know if I could make it better for next times video.
Thanks,
Lachie

I must say the first 5 seconds of the vid really spun me out, I thought I was having a mad seniors moment. LOL

I don't know any of the technicalities about filming and such but I enjoyed your video, keep at it who knows just where it could lead you.

It reminded me of Huckleberry Finn adventure.
Thanks for posting it.

Yeah agree

Yeah i agree with meglodon. Speed changes on a video can realy make it pop, but to get it right takes practice. For your first vid its pretty good and shows the area realy well.

I have hundreds of hours of bream fishing on the gopro, and condense it down to less than 7 minutes. Fishers like us don't mind watching long videos, but most people have an attention span of less the 3 minutes. ( keep videos short if you want veiws on youtube ).

I'm impressed you ask for advice then went out and tried it, this shows you will only get better and in no time be getting nice Bream often. Just wait until a big Bream busts you off big time, your heart will jump into overdrive and then you will be left wondering what the hell happened.

Video does work better with some background music, but youtube has strict rules. Check out  ( Creative commons ) there are some sites you can use free music.

Only other thing i can add, is keep your bait in a cooler/ esky. Only take out a few baits as you need them, that way they are always fresh and that is one secret to big Bream , ( fresh bait usually out fishes every thing else. )

Cant wait to see your next report , cheers Grant .

 Thanks grant that's really

Thanks grant that's really helpful! I did get busted off by a bream twice, which would have been over 30cm at least, I might make my leader heavier again to control it from the snags. First time was I had one cast into a spot and something grabbed it and just went and went, rod tip doubled over, so it was annoying to lose it because it was big! I lost another 30+ fish on camera but didn't want to put it in the vid lol.

thanks

lachie

nice breambo

hey boys good job yous are very keen like I was back in the day. if you want some bigger bream try fish the high tides and have a suss on what theyre feeding on and match the hatch. you have to cut one open and look in its guts. Youll catch bigger bream if you set your rod in a rod holder and leave ya drag loose most of the time they'll hook them selves. I believe if your holding your rod this seems to scare off the bigger ones they dont get to be 25+ years old for nothing. The Murray is the best spot for a big bream find the deep holes and fish the edges back onto the shallow. light line with good qual leader and just a hook and swivel no sinker.
