Carnarvon offshore

Hi all,

I will have the pleasure of visiting carnarvon in June/July to visit some mates.
I will have access to a boat and was wondering about the snapper fishing which I have heard so much about.

Do you have to make a trip west of the islands (bernier/Dorre) for good snapper fishing, or can good pinky fishing be had in the body of water between carnarvon and the islands. Don`t want to travel 30nm to the islands if good fishing is available closer to shore.

Thank you

Chris

Desert

There is a lot of desert on the way to the islands but there are some small spots that people guard with their lives.

The Lady Joyce wreck produces good fish if you are the first one to it after a break and at night.

The channels south of town can be productive for black snapper, cod and pinkies on the turn of th tide.

Heading north to Beejaling shoals and Fitzroy reef are good spots as well with some good spaniards showing up occasionally.

The island and the muck hole are about the most reliable of the lot being its a long way to travel if you have made the wrong choice first off.
