all we did in greenhead was tie some bits of pvc platic tubes onto rope witch was attached to a bit of concrete. with the other end of the rope you tie it to a float. then all we did was put them out and left, came back a next day or day after and there was occys in there

If you snorkel around

Tue, 2009-11-10 18:22

you'll see heaps of occy pots in the sound(s).

As mentioned its usually a PVC pipe about 150mm with a closed end. I think they concrete it for weight to keep anchored to the bottom. Put it in the weed, leave for a few days and hopefully an octopus will have made itself at home!

occy pots

Tue, 2009-11-10 20:15

i use any pvc from 90mm to 400mm usually bout 700mm longwith three or so tech screwws in the end to hold the concrete in set them out in patches of 30 leave for couple of weeks then snorkle u can c the occys hangin out the end plus crab shells , razor clam shells even golf balls litered around the pots , u can size the occy up and pull out any pots with a worthy occy, pour out the salt water pour in some fresh water and they usually come shootin out / off with their head into salt ice slurry u cant buy bait like that , last year we ran 140 pots
