charter fishing

went out on Aqualib charter form mandurah yesterday with a group of guys form dads work and had a ball out there. i must say that stephen was a great skipper and tried to put us on alot of fish. He even helped a few of us out on sounder readings and a few other tips. the boat ended up with dhuies, a load of black ass a few nice red snapper, a massive baldchin, king george and a 5ft gummy shark which by the way tastes awsome. I will definitly be heading back out with him again. We even found new ground too whihc produced alot of the days catch which is now marked for next yeras trip out for us.

a fair way

Mon, 2008-02-04 18:57

we travelled out for two and a half hours from the mandurah marina. Fishing in 40-50m of water. price was ok all up it was 3000 bucks but between 10 guys 300 a peice was good. when they turned up he even had a metal detector, went threw all the gear and way he fished baiting up and the technique he likes to use and works and then we headed out. went suth to dawsvile then out form that way. as for booking im not sure how long the list is but it is only a call away. the guys i went with were in for fishing and drinking, which made it fun for everyone slinging cp at each other evn the decie got in on the jokes too. ill definitely be going again. there is a website for him but he doesnt advertise too much. they even had prizes for the biggest fish of the day, the best fish, the most fish and the dunce of the day too.

I guess u wood have ended up out from bunbury!
I went on port bouvard charters out of the marina and we travled for 2 hours to the first spot which was out from bunbury. Only paid $220 and it is a huge boat with great service, food, drink, and gear if you need it. Definatly worth a try.

Tue, 2008-02-05 11:07

Wouldn't pick mobiles with Nav Sat capabilities either would it? Would there be enough (any) metal content there?

Why would you want to pinch spots from a charter boat?
If ya traveling 2 plus hours, it would be a waste of time, IMO

about the phones he makes you switch them off befor you get onboard. and rodrat i too went out on port bouvard befor too. but they had 16 guys on board and it was line tangles galore. at east with 300 bucks you get 10 guys spread out form each other, more of a laugh with mates. and more personal service, would say prabably fishing out from preston myself. but hey each to there own

GPS

Wed, 2008-02-06 20:40

I admit I took a GPS on board a boat once but only because I forgot to take it out my fishing bag and it never got turned on , I have caught people on board while decking either powering up or actually marking spots and warned them to STOP right away or it will be 100m under the boat , I still don't have the co ords of the Sambo grounds off AL just never needed to know them so I don't bother getting them .

I like doing it all myself a general direction and depth is welcomed but after that let me find it .

JMHO

It's a bit like Dhuies I don't kill them but won't condone someone taking their limit.

Pinching spots

Thu, 2008-02-07 07:23

Rod - there's been reports of people doing just that! Personally, as Mav said, I find a lot more joy and satisfaction in finding spots from my own endeavours.  Aside from that my conscience would simply allow 'steeling' GPS spots like that. Similarly, if someone takes me to 'their' spot, I would never divulge it. You tell one in secret - he/she tells one, and before you know it, the spot gets hammerred instead of sensibily rotated.
