Chat about anything.

Anyone remember those days “6 O’clock closing” you rush from work, buy a beer and head to your table, all the guys are there. The conversation “how we would run the company” “Personal beefs, how we would run the country, our sports, conquests, in fact anything. I really miss those days.

Isn’t this what this forum is about, beer in hand, we’re talking to our mates, some just listening, some bragging, some giving us the shits. But at the end of the day (6 o’clock) it’s just about chatting together.

So what if someone wants to join our table. Maybe they just want to make friends, why not let them in?

I have seen several persons put up posts and get crucified for doing so. So it interferes with your story “Boo Hoo”.

Maybe you need to learn tolerance.

Just a bit of co-operation could change that person’s life.

Then, SO WHAT IF ITS NOT FISHING RELATED.

If you read down the list, there are a lot of subjects that are definitely not fishing related, its not going to end the world.

And there is the section “Chat about anything”.

What the hell was that about. Doesnt take long in any conversation. It all reverts to sex (and fishing)!!!

I don't mind

I don't mind if theres some non fishing related chat, as long as it doesn't go over board.  Had to remove the last 2 threads by Jim as it seems everyone wants to attack each other.  Its not hard just to ignore it and read the other fishing related threads, all 90 plus percent of them...  Ahh well, can't please everyone!

Can't please everyone - that's for sure

To some this is just text on screen and a way to pass spare time. To others it's a form of social engagement (that includes me). I'll admit to stirring the pot sometimes but my nature doesn't lend itself to the destruction of other people. Iana you are dead right mate. Knock off work and head down for a few pints and take the mickie out of your mates or solve the problems of the world. Alf Garnet was a classic at doing that LOL.

Hey Neels.. not sure about reverting to sex LOL. I don't need to log on for that.

Mon, 2011-08-08 09:12

friends drink beer, fight with each other, sulk for 2 minutes then buy another round of beer and get over it for the next round...lol

in the good old days before all this internet cr@p we would all be at the pub and not in front of the keyboard.

I expected to get a black eye for this thread.

Mon, 2011-08-08 16:35

But so far there has only been a bit of pushing and shoving. This forum would be all the better if that was all there was. Yeh I know, if you cant stand the heat of the kitchem etc.

Tony, I don't think its keyboards, I think its Cops, drink driving laws and the pressure of modern living. But now when I think about it, those days were good, just didn't appreciate it then.

The guys I went to the pub with were all married, when they got home to the missus they all blamed me. One guy I remember used to go to sleep in the bath, his wife (rather pissed off) used to leave him there, finally waking at 2 in the morning. Brass monkeys had nothing on him.
