chicken oil

Ive been getting mine from my local iga in 5lt tubs and have the chance to start getting a 44gallon drum every few weeks or they have to pay to get it disposed. Moving house soon and will have the room to have it laying about and could thus supply it to people who are in need for their burley. If there is a demand for this i will consider going through with it. could even do a gold coin donation and send through to a charity etc and limit it to 10ish lts per visit so people arent just pouring it into the ocean(from what i hear it doesnt break down too well).

cheers

Jim.

it takes longer to separate and absorb/disperse in the water because of its nature (fat. )I use it to get the burley into a paste, save $$ by not using pricey tuna oil.

Good on ya for the generous offer JIM1 but yeah also a little concerned about the breaking down part. Could u please elaborate on the breaking down of it if possible? Or anyone else who mite know anything about it? Pretty hard to beat those cubed up mulies for burley anyway!

i wouldnt use it in slow

i wouldnt use it in slow moving water, its definatly a surf burley aide. think if you have water and oil in a glass, it seperates, but shake it and it mixes and disperses to the point where surface tension of the oil is to small to coagulate back into visible oil "plates", sure theres a trace but not big enought to damage birds/fish i think.

mabe we could seal the drum

Mon, 2011-07-18 20:19

mabe we could seal the drum up and dump it out at the fads would make for some intresting days out there:)

there are alot worse things that get dumped in the oceans and im sure the fish will eat it if mixed with chook pellets/pollard

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

used about 2-3lr of it in a 20lt burley, then froze that into 80 or so plastic cups, use 2-3 per outing, less than 100mils of oil a trip isnt to bad IMO.

Secret to a good burley is

Mon, 2011-07-18 20:39

Secret to a good burley is nick the bamix from the kitchen without the missus seeing and wizz up a block of old mulies / fish scraps with pollard & pellets, good natural oils from the fish (never did well with chicken shit). Mix whatever else you want in there but if fishing 3 mile for snaps etc would mix some beach sand in with it and freeze cricket ball sizes, drop em over watch the sounder

If you have a diesel car

Mon, 2011-07-18 21:53

If you have a diesel car start using the stuff to make your own bio-diesel. My mates old man has been doing it for over a decade in his Hilux. Still running strong, with a nice fish and chips smell out the exhaust wherever he goes

Nah Jim

one of the fellas I work with does it in his 80 series. Easy as, just need the filter system at home and the fuel (oil) system under the bonnet. Runs on 100% used oil from whoever he can get it off, the local fish and chip shops and some restuarants give him a consistent supply.
