Have a look on facebook, "my gospel boat build".
He ordered and paid deposit over 60 days ago for a "50 day build time" and they have only just apparently started cutting it out

The ones I am looking at are already landed here in Perth. I have a friend from work who built ali boats for years going to inspect one for me as I am in Karratha, but I just wanted to know if anyone has actually purchased one and their thoughts after owning for a period of time

i looked at 1 afew years ago

Mon, 2019-06-24 17:20

i looked at 1 afew years ago in malaga they looked ok from a distance but the closer i looked i found things that i would prefer made alot heavier. The webbing on the rear step was only 1.6 thick not atleast 3 mm like aussie built boats. I decided to go with a second hand aussie boat rather than the new Chinese built one and am very happy with my decision.

I'm sure quality control has got better from Chinese boat builders. it's what you cant see would concern me.

Also warranty repairs, who does them.

material

Get the materials used on the hull independantly tested. However, to do this you need to be there to ensure what they use was from the same batch you got tested.

 Short of flying over there

Tue, 2019-06-25 15:16

Short of flying over there and cutting it off the boat and paying a shitload for a lab sample to be tested its a waste of time.

As harsh as it sounds, if the level of distrust is to that extent, I wouldnt buy one anyway (and that may be warranted, personal choice)

Besides he is talking about one already landed here

Trailcraft are bad news ATM

Tue, 2019-06-25 16:00

Chinese built, huge lead times, regardless of what it promised. One bloke up here was promised 3 months delivery--it actually took 11 months. And he is not altogether happy with what he got. Another bloke here ordered, same three month promise; went out well over that, and he pulled the pin on it,  apparently the agent in Perth is really dropping the ball.

Trailcraft blaming the agent?

Trailcraft blaming the agent? Saltwater marine and trailcraft both owned by Brett Martin I think you will find. Sounds like a salesman trying to offload some heat.

Almost all electrical goods

Almost all electrical goods are manufactured in China now but when you’re spending upwards of 50k it kind of makes you think twice before buying a Chinese built boat. Also the money you save upfront I’m certain you will lose when it comes to resale

I think these will become

Thu, 2019-06-27 11:40

I think these will become totally mainstream next few years as the price of Aussie products spirals out of the range of the normal bloke.

I smell a great opportunity for an Aussie importer to bring them in partially completed without floors so they can be finished and fitted out here.

Have a look how Chinese campers have totally taken market domination last few years.

I'd still be careful

I'd still be careful purchasing a Chinese built boat as the traditional name for a Chinese vessel still holds....Junk.

So I got a former boat

Mon, 2019-07-01 15:24

So I got a former boat builder to inspect and he said the design and layout were excellent. He thinks their about 5 years off being able to match the construction quality you would expect to buy here in Australia. He recommended I buy locally built, purely because he couldnt see what was under the deck and he wouldnt put his name to it with out being able to rip the deck up......

inlaws got one a while back

Mon, 2019-07-01 17:43

inlaws got one a while back and to say the workmanship was poor is an understatement . gaps filled with silicone of diff thicknesses all over. not to mention the ride was crap . sold it just over 12 months later at a big loss

better off buying an older hull and do a refirb or buy new aussie built.
