CHOONAH - Bit better photos

Tuna everywhere in metro waters today. 5 minutes from the boat ramp was the first school, threw a few poppers at em but a bit too quick for us.

Pretty rough conditions this morning, which limited things, but me and Langa found some and less than 60 seconds of getting the lures in the water, double header....this was followed by two triples and another double. We dropped 2 and landed 6 (bag limit in quick time). Only took a photo of the last one landed, as we had the go pro going, but it ran out of batteries.....hmmm.

Had a quick sambo jig, landed a few, this one gave my Trinidad 16a a good workout.

On the way home, saw some free jumpers (one went 6 ft clear of the water!), these were much better size fish but we had our bag limit.

Filleted the fish today, lots of sashimi, a nice trade made for some crays.

Tuna appeared very widespread.

Tim-o, I was actually thinking about you when we hooked up today......Langa said you would not be happy......haha.

Honestly (I shit you not), one school was within 3 km of the ramp, birds going nuts.......

The free jumpers were in what looked like a bloody big school, some plus 15 kg fish in that lot. Birds everywhere, but by the time got there they had sounded and the birds landed on the water.

Must admit, we almost missed both flocks of birds but we actively keep an eye out for them, they are the best fishermen.

Water around 20.5....perfect!

Never seen that before, thats a fuggen good idea. Now, aside from sashimi, what is your favorite way to serve a fin John?

You are the tuna whisperer. All times of the year you seem to pull consistent catches of tuna.

Paul, details of ice bag:

It works great. Have had well over 100 kg of fish in it.

Crasny....we normally get a few stripies but the last few trips out, only YFT. Water temp absolutely perfect for YFT at the mo. Bit hotter and stripies seem to come out more.

Cheers

Have a big esky in my mates boat but it's that big, a slurry makes it too much weight (and we usually have other stuff stored in it on trips), this would be ideal to use a slurry get their temps down quickly and then put them in the esky with ice.

Might use it in my boat too to open up space on the deck.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
