Cockburn Sound

Hi!

Who can let me know of any good spots in Cockburn Sound once the Snapper season opens again? I only moved to WA just over a year ago and went out a couple of times but after covering plenty of ground couldn't find any structure, reef, scallop beds etc at all. Fished a couple of spots but as far as I could tell the bottom was flat and sand or mud? Plenty of fish on the sounder in mid water but I assume these were squid?

There are a few wrecks/ barges in the sound. Have a look on a nautical map and you can see them.
There's a start

Same here, We moved up from Mandurah 6 months ago and so far the fishing in Rockingham has been terrible.

We used to catch something all the time Mandurah way.

Where to go to fish in Rocky. We launch from Point Peron as we have a 23 footer.

Will someone point us in the right direction for snapper, King George whiting. or where to go for deep water fish.

Cheers

Cockburn Pinky info.....

Bisho, buying the AUS 117 Cockburn Sound chart and studying areas is a good idea. Pinkys like structure in general so dont worry too much about sounder bottom interpretation.

Theres a few wrecks as mentioned to look and spending time on the water targeting them but look for fish, thats the key.

Part 2 of FWA Cocburn Sound pink snapper special is on channel 7 tomorrow arvo. The other thing to look at is the "How to Catch Pink Snapper" FWA DVD where Ryan (my boss) has done a lot of what/where/how why on that DVD........worthy to buy/look at.
