Cockburn Sound Flounder

Since every one is posting up images, here are our two PB Large toothed flounder.

Both caught with in Cockburn Sound early this year. I'm told that these flounder are pretty big for this area.

I always seem to end up with a couple when cahsing flatties in the river in summer too, some real "horses" as well. I never really found out how to "treat" them for the plate, so i always chuck 'em back, but i believe they're pretty good on the chew.

We seem to get them using hole squid as bait, the ones you get from a tackle store, have it on a running sinker set up. these two where caught on the Southern Sand Flats.

Pretty nice flounder indeed tommy!

They are great eating as well only problem is the amount of fine bones.

Here is our best one to date.. That is a 55cm dhuie beside it and it makes it look small..  Don't really like posting up big kill catches, but it was a pretty good day out a few years back.

Flounder

Nah, not sure tommy..

Was watching a bbc documentry the other night and flounder can actually change their appearance to mimic the surroundings they are in.  They had a black and white checkerboard as the bottom and the flounder created a similar checkerboard on its back, was crazy stuff.. Pretty smart creature, it was a close replication.  I will see if i can take a screenshot and post it up.
