Cockburn Sound spawning season and Fishing Jetty laws
Submitted by Baron Custom on Sat, 2009-10-10 14:41
Hi everyone, Can someone tell me if we are still allowed to fish from the jettys in Cockburn Sound, can't remember when the spawning season started and if there are restrictions or bans for the Cockburn area. Want to go fishing tonight and don't want to get into any trouble.
Man I just want to go fishing and catch something, any ideas?

That is incorrect. You're
That is incorrect. You're allowed to fish in the Sound, but you're not allowed to target pink snapper for catch and release.
Mr Donohue said the four-month closure applied to commercial and recreational fishers (including catch and release) and it would be illegal to be in possession of pink snapper while fishing in the waters of the restricted area, during the closed season. However, pink snapper taken outside of the Sounds could be transported through and landed within Cockburn or Warnbro Sound during the closed season.

Not sure that a public forum
Not sure that a public forum is the best place to discuss avoiding fisheries restrictions. Not something i'm interested in, not something I'd discuss.

For sure, but you would hate
For sure, but you would hate to have someone read an offhand suggestion for breaking the law and then try it.

If you have a snapper on
If you have a snapper on board and you are fishing in the Sound you will get fined no matter where you caught it, you have to proceed to your launch area and not stop to fish in Warnbro or Cockburn sounds if you have a snapper onboard,,,
