Coral Bay Query

Hi All
I am heading to Coral Bay soon with a few friends and we have hired a boat from Exmouth Boat Hire. The navigational limitation is 5 nautical miles from shore. I am wondering what my options for fishing are given this restriction? Fear we won't be getting stuck into any reds that close?

Is that a new restriction?
Regularly see their boats 20 mile + out. The hire boats we seee more than most as they quite often like to try and follow us out.
If you are keen to follow the rules than head a fair way south and you should find a few.

That was the case
When we hired 3 years ago - it's the limit their insurance covers so they have to tell you this. You can go further out but it's at your own risk blah blah blah. Just make sure you're confident with the boat and log onto sea rescue each day regardless of how far out you're going.

you can go just under 5kts
you can go just under 5kts out west of south passage and pick up reds. they swim around, not much to look at in the way of structure but they seem to roll that way. Have a few spots on the 50m contour only 2kts from north passage reef end. Also just south of Warroora (magies) sanctuary about 1kt from the beach is plenty of reds, it is 20 odd kts away from south passage though

I see there is a new hire boat operation out of exxie with boat surveyed to 30nm. That's a bit better
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
